"The sweetly energetic elements, the animals cruelty deifies: moonfish of the ocean depths, iridiscent toads of the empty bushes, birds cooed with screams (The Magnetic Fields, André Breton & Philippe Soupault)".

What do beasts dream with? How do they appear in your dreams? Vesper is a series of anthological literary zines devoted to different aspects of the night. Vesper II: Animal Dreams will spread wild sleep dust over our oneiria. Show us the hypnagogia of tropical fish, avian REM fantasias, our own surrealist slumbers of colourful creatures. Send us your poetry (max. 50 lines) or poetic prose (max. 1,500 words; no short fiction) in English or Spanish on a separate text document before the 27th of May 2024 to submissions[at]sadwrnpress[dot]com. Payment will consist of €40/text and a complimentary copy of the zine. The zine will be enriched with original illustrations.

Please do not include any biographical or professional information. Emails or submissions containing this information will be automatically rejected.

Jacques Yonnet once stated that "an age-old city is like a pond. With its colours and reflections. Its chills and murk. Its ferment, its sorcery, its hidden life." And the same could be said for the most intoxicating of video games.

Getting truly lost in one means encountering places more vivid than our physical reality. Wind Guide You will be a pixelstruck anthology of enchanted texts devoted to exploring these territories and digital ramblings. We want pieces that talk about the most otherwordly and intense settings of virtual universes. We want your beautiful dérives. We want your utter escapism, your childlike stray in the woods.

But we aim to go beyond mere description. These short incursions must absorb the reader, envelop them the way the most lucid video game environments do, with a complex and evocative poetic prose. The pieces will be accompanied by a pixel art illustration, especially commissioned for each of the selected texts.

Send us your submissions in English or Spanish in a text document (with a limit of 1,500 words) before the 1st of September to submissions[at]sadwrnpress[dot]com. Do not include absolutely any personal or professional info. Payment consists of €40/text and a complimentary copy of the zine.

After two years of pandemic we can at last meet up to present our two new zines, Vesper I and Pink Blast. This Friday 1st July we'll be live discussing invertebrates, constellations, and poetry at 19:00 at Ciento Volando bookshop (Divino Pastor 13, metro Bilbao/Tribunal) with author Enda Kenneally. If you're in Madrid come join us for a cosmic multilegged evening.

We are proud to announce that our new publication, 'Vesper I', is now available from our online shop. Vesper is our series of poetry zines devoted exclusively to the many facets of night, to be enjoyed fully only after dusk.

In this first issue, our five authors have raised their gaze, from different literary standpoints and regions (Spain, US, Mexico, Chile), to vindicate the eternal relevance of direct astronomical observation. This experience, always enriching and sublime, is portrayed in our anthology with images equally mythological and intimate. Constellations ancient as gods, moons as familiar as mothers, meteors as loving signs, … Vesper I is proof of how the night sky, an endangered world heritage, deeply changes and puts a spell on us.

‘Their Beauty soothed me and took me out of Myself; their noble expressions reminded me of all that is good in the World.’  Piranesi, Susanna Clarke

Vesper is an aperiodical literary zine born to delve deep into the many different aspects of the mystery that is night.

This summer, Vesper I will focus its gaze on the night sky. This neverending source of beauty speaks to us about truths at the same time inmense, collective and intimate, even if we forget them in our daily lives. Vesper I will gather short radiant pieces about or inspired by it: naked-eye visible objects such as constellations, individual stars or planets, stargazing, cyclical & linear time reflected on the heavens, mythology, mortality,… We are looking for resonant, complex and wonderful texts that reconnect us with this eternal nightscape.

Send us your poetic prose (up to 1,500 words) or poetry (up to 50 verses) to submissions[at]sadwrnpress[dot]com in an attached text document by 5th July 2021. Please do not include a bio. The selected authors will be rewarded with €40/piece and a complimentary copy of the zine.
